Website response: We have not included the microchip in the puppy pack for 2 years. It is a legal requirement for puppies to have a microchip prior to vaccination. We reduced the cost of our puppy package due to this. You said in your comment that you tried to book your puppies in with other vets first. You may have got a bit mixed up with what they were offering.
Our puppy vaccination course costs significantly less(at least £20) than most of the vets in town. Our microchip price is £15 so we were still cheaper for you.
You sent another member of your family to get your puppies’ second vaccines. They asked the vet to give the kennel cough vaccines and microchips at this second vaccine. These extras were charged for fairly. You rang later to complain. In future it would be simpler if you came to the vets too, so that you would be able to participate in the decision making and to understand the costs involved.
Thanks. Sorry you were upset.
John.

Website response: We are extremely saddened to hear of your situation and that you feel we let you and your bird down at this time.
Unfortunately we made the decision in July (5 months ago), to no longer take on any exotic cases. We are not a specialist exotics/bird practice, we are just the same as your more local "routine vets" and strictly speaking other practices should not be referring clients to us as if we are specialists.
We are under the impression that you live in Manchester which is 25 miles away and were given our details from another practice. Had they declined helping you when you were concerned with your bird's breathing? We have spoken to the receptionist's involved and they report they tried to explain we no longer see exotic cases and that they tried to help you. Understandably you were concerned for your bird but it sounds like you became quite agitated and threatening. Under pressure, they did give you details of other practices that may have been able to help you.
Under emergency circumstances, vets will offer to put an animal to sleep to prevent suffering whether they are registered or not. This was offered when you felt your parrot was dying.
Once again, we apologise that we were not able to help you at this time, we wish there were enough of us to see all animals at any time, but that is obviously not a reality.
We hope you managed to find a more local vet to help you and your parrot.
